M7 está localizado, en términos prácticos, al final de la cola del Escorpión, y es visible a simple vista con muchísima facilidad. Con una magnitud de 3.3, es más brillante que muchas de las estrellas que podemos ver a simple vista. De hecho, al menos tres de sus componentes están en el límite de visibilidad (5.60 a 5.96 de magnitud). Binoculares 7x35 son suficientes para resaltar la imagen de este cúmulo. Con el telescopio, a 30x, es, simplemente, ideal: el campo de visión se llena de estrellas, muchas de ellas brillantes. Mayores magnificaciones impiden, por lo general, que se pueda apreciar el cúmulo en toda su extensión (dentro de un mismo campo de visión).

Practically speaking, M7 is at the end of the Scorpion's tail, and is visible to the naked eye with ease. At magnitude 3.3, it is brighter than many other stars in the night sky. Actually, at least three of its members are in the threshold of naked-eye visibility (5.60 to 5.96 magnitude). A pair of 7x35mm binoculars are enough to improve this cluster's image. With the telescope at 30x it looks simply stunning: the whole field of view becomes crowded with stars, many of them pretty bright. More power usually impairs the view since you can't see all of the cluster in a single glance (in the same field of view).
